As a workforce funder collaborative, SkillWorks invests pooled resources into employer-driven, sector-based training and placement strategies to help low-skill, low-and moderate-income job seekers move to family-sustaining jobs, and help employers find and retain skilled employees. SkillWorks is a nationally recognized workforce development intermediary and is the model for the National Fund for Workforce Solutions. Since its inception in 2007, the National Fund has been a key partner, advisor, and collaborator with SkillWorks, and we’re excited to continue working closely with the National Fund as they launch into an exciting new phase!

For the past decade, the National Fund for Workforce Solutions has been partnering with leaders in 32 rural and urban communities across the country to foster investment and innovation in the realm of workforce development.

The new National Fund is the evolution of the National Fund for Workforce Solutions into an independent   501c(3) organization with the primary goal of driving practices, policies, and investments that enable workers to succeed in good jobs, provide employers with a skilled workforce, and build more prosperous communities.

While millions of Americans seek full-time employment or access to a sustainable career, thousands of American businesses struggle to find the talent required to keep them competitive, flexible, and successful. The National Fund is working to overcome this dual challenge by building a better approach to labor and workforce development through partnering with organizations such as ours.

SkillWorks is proud to be a part of the network of 85 active industry partnerships and 32 regional collaboratives the National Fund is fostering. Over the past decade we’ve helped 78,000 individuals develop new skills (including over 5,500 individuals through SkillWorks alone), supported thousands of employers in industry partnerships, and enacted hundreds of instances of systems change. Through collaboration among local employers, education providers, and community leaders, we know that we can develop collective solutions to shared problems.

“We are excited to start this next chapter as an independent organization,” said Fred Dedrick, President and CEO, National Fund for Workforce Solutions. “As a network of 32 communities and hundreds of business, philanthropic and workforce leaders we look forward to building upon our accomplishments and making the case that good jobs are essential to a region’s inclusive prosperity and economic success.”
