FY2012 Senate Ways and Means Budget Released

The FY2012 Senate Ways and Means budget for the state of MA was released yesterday, and the funding picture for workforce training and education is mixed.   We’ll be working on a number of amendment for workforce line items–stay tuned for those.  In the meantime, here’s the brief run down:

  • Workforce Training Fund (7003-0701): $19.9 million in Senate W & M in an off-budget trust fund (same as House budget)
  • Adult Basic Education (7035-0002): $27.7 million in Senate W & M (same as House budget)
  • One Stop Career Centers (7003-0803): $4.5 million in Senate W & M ($500,000 less than House budget)
  • School to Career Connecting Activities (7027-0019): $1.2 million in Senate W & M ($0 in House budget)
  • At-risk Youth–Youth Works Teen Jobs (7002-0012): $0 in Senate W & M ($2 million in House budget; $4.4 in Governor’s budget) 
  • Employment Services Program (4401-1000): $4.3 million in Senate W & M ($6.7 million in House budget)
